Ans. The work of the police is as follows :-

  • Police maintains the law and order in its jurisdiction
  • It is the work of Police department to enquire, investigate and take action on the cases on the area .
  • Police register the cases of accident, injury, fights, thefts, etc.
  • Police provide security to the general public.

Ans. Work of a patwari(lekhpal) are :-

  • Patwari measures the land keeps the land record and updates the land records timely.
  • A Patwari organises the collection of land revenue from the farmers and provides information to the government about the crops in the area.

Ques. 3 : What is the work of a tehsildar?
Ans. The work of a tehsildar are as follows :-

  • Tehsildar’s work is to hear the disputes.
  • A tehsildar supervise the work of Patwaris.
  • A tehsildar settles the dispute related to lands.
  • A tehsildar help the student to get their caste certificate. After the signature and verification by the tehsildar office, a student gets his/her caste certificate.

Ques. 4 : What issue is the poem trying to raise? Do you think this is an important issue? Why?
Ans. The poem is trying to raise the issue of the rights for a girl child. This is an important issue. A girl should be treated equally in the society. She should be given the same right as male child is given.

Inheritance in the paternal properties should be equally divided among all the members without any consideration of boy or girl. According to me the poem has raised a justified issue.

Ques. 5 : In what ways are the work of the Panchayat, that you read about in the previous chapter, and the work of the Patwari related to each other?
Ans. Patwari maintains land records, while Panchayat looks after local needs. A panchayat also needs land record, when construction of road or drainage or installation of handpumps needs to be carried out.

Moreover , many land disputes can be easily settled at the Panchayat itself. Thus , both Patwari and Panchayat need to cooperate with each other in their work.

  • They setup cameras and other security technologies in order to keep an eye on all the activities in the area.
  • If necessary, police deploy extra police force.
