(i) A ratio in the simplest form is 5 : 7.If the antecedent is 45, find the consequent.
Answer and Explanation :
The Ration is 5:7
We know that
The antecedent is 5x
The Consequent :7x
According to question ,
Antecedent is 45
therefore , 5x = 45
x= 45/5
x= 9
The Consequent is 7x
7x = 7* 9

(ii) Write the ratio 2 (1/4) : 5/8 in the simplest form.

Answer and Explanation :
2(1/4) : 5/8
9/4 : 5/8
Multiplying the numerator and denominator by two on the left hand side
(9*2) / (4*2) : 5/8
18/ 8 :5/8
Multiplying by 8 on both side
we get
18:5
Answer of the above question is 18: 5

(iii) Find the compound ratio of the following ratios :
2kg : 480 gm and 120 min : 150 min.

Answer and Explanation :
2kg : 480 gm
Converting kg in gm
we get,
2000 gm : 480 gm
2000/480 = 25/6

25 : 6
120 min : 150 min
120/150
On Solving we get,
4/5
4:5

Now Calculating Compound Ratio :
(25 : 6) * (4: 5 )
(25 *4) / (6*5) = 10 / 3
10 : 3
Answer of the above question is 10 : 3

(iv) For cultivation of paddy 17 bags of cow dung and 3 bags of vegetable peel being mixed. Find the
proportional part of vegetable peel .

Answer and Explanation :
According to questions ,
Total number of bags of cow dung : 17 bags
Total Number of bags of vegetable peel : 3 bags
Total Number of bags : 17 + 3 = 20 bags
Proportion of Vegetable peel in the mixture is : (Number of vegetable peel bags/ Total number of bags mixed )
3/ 20
The answer of the above question is 3/20.

Q4. Rs 12,100 is divided among Madhu, Manash, Kuntal and Indra in the ratio of 2 : 3 : 4 : 2. Calculate and write how which each will get.
Answer and Explanation :
Total amount : Rs 12100
Given Ratio is 2:3:4:2

Now , 2+3+4+2 = 11
Madhu will get the amount = 12100 *(2/11) = 2200
Manash will get the amount = 12100 * (3/11) = 3300
Kuntal will get the amount = 12100 * (4/11) = 4400
Indra will get the amount = 12100 * (2/11) = 2200
