Ques. 45 : Where does the breaking of pyruvate using oxygen takes place ?
Answer : The breaking of pyruvate using oxygen takes place in the mitochondria.

Ques. 46 : Write a short note on Breathing.
Answer : In human beings , the air is taken into the body through nostrils. The air passing through the nostrils is filtered by the fine hairs that line the passage so that the air going into body is free of dust and other impurities.

The passage is also lined with mucus which helps in the process. From here, the air passes through the throat into lungs. Rings of cartilage are present in the throat. These ensures that air- passage does not collapse.

Within the lungs, the passage divides into smaller and smaller tubes which finally terminates in a balloon like structure which are called alveoli.

The alveoli provide a surface where the exchange of gases take place. The walls of blood vessels contain an extensive network of blood vessels.
