Pradhan Mantri AWAS Yojana – PM AWAS YOJANA is a very good initiative that has been taken by the government of India. This government scheme is beneficial for rural and urban poor people.

Under this yojana affordable housing will provided to the urban poor people. The target of PM AWAS Yojana is to provide more than two crore affordable houses to rural and urban poor people by 31 March 2022.

Pradhan Mantri AWAS Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is very good and beneficial government scheme for the poor people. PM AWAS Yojana was launched in financial year 2015 by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi . This Scheme is under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Under this scheme the beneficiary will get affordable houses. The ministry aims at providing 2 crore houses to poor people by 31 March 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri AWAS Yojana.

PM AWAS Yojana has mainly two components :

  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban – PMAY-U
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin – PMAY- G

PMAY-U Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban

PMAY- U is the part of the PM Awas Yojana only. The U defines the urban areas. The PM AWAS Yojana Urban is for the urban poor people. This government scheme will help the poor people who are living in the urban areas. It will ensure them affordable houses.

PMAY-G Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin

PMAY- G is also the part of the PM AWAS Yojana Only. The G defines the Gramin i.e. Rural Areas. This section of the this government scheme is specially for rural people. This government scheme will help poor people in the rural areas of the country.

The benefits of of this scheme are many . This scheme has benefits of the other schemes also like that of UJJWALA YOJANA , Saubhagya Yojana, etc. Moreover, the houses made under this government scheme has mainly following benefits.

  • LPG Connection (UJJwala Yojana)
  • Drinking Water supply

PMAY Beneficiary

The applicants must be following these conditions for becoming eligible for this scheme.

  • The Beneficiary is a family that comprise of following members
    • husband
    • wife
    • unmarried sons or unmarried daughters.
  • An Adult earning member can be treated as a separate household
