Sikkim
Sikkim is a small state located in the northeastern region of India, bordered by Bhutan to the east, Nepal to the west, and Tibet to the north. It is the least populous and second-smallest state in India. Sikkim is situated in the Himalayan mountain range and is known for its breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, and diverse flora and fauna.
Sikkim word combination of two words : Su and kim ( khyim) . Su means New and Khyim means palace. Collectively Sikkim means new palace. Sikkim is also known as Indrakil , the garden of the war god Indra. The state have five seasons : summer, winter, spring , autumn and monsoon.
The state is home to many rivers, including the Teesta, Rangeet, and Rangpo, which flow through its mountainous terrain. These rivers have been harnessed to generate hydroelectric power, and the state boasts several dams, including the Teesta Dam and the Rangit Dam. These dams have helped to boost the state’s economy, providing electricity for local residents as well as for export to neighboring states.
Sikkim is also famous for its biodiversity, with over 5,000 species of flowering plants, including orchids, rhododendrons, and primulas. The state is home to several protected areas, including the Khangchendzonga National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The state is also known for its rich cultural heritage, with a mix of Nepali, Bhutia, and Lepcha cultures.
